New Ladder Truck Introduced At Plainfield Fire Department

The truck, which has a 100-foot main aerial ladder and 188 feet of ground ladders, was put into service Friday at Fire Station 1.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Fire Protection District is newly equipped with a new ladder truck, officials announced. The 2022 Pierce Tower Ladder was first put into service Friday at Fire Station 1.

The new truck is equipped with a 100-foot main aerial ladder and 188 feet of ground ladders, officials said. The truck also has the capacity to carry 500 gallons of water and can pump 2,000 gallons per minute.

Most features on the new vehicle are the same as the older trucks. According to Deputy Chief Mark Reynolds, a few notable differences include:

  • Updated compartments to better organize equipment
  • More firehose
  • A larger water tank
  • State-of-the-art lighting and technology

Besides its extended abilities in the fire extinguishing department, the truck carries tools for various rescues, including vehicle extrication.

Officials said the tower ladder will be equipped with emergency medical supplies to help treat patients on the scene.
