Obituary: Anthony Richard Cherven, Jr.

Loving son, brother and uncle passes away at age 72.

Anthony Richard Cherven, Jr.

Anthony Richard Cherven, Jr., lovinginly known as “Ritchie”, passed away at the age of 72 on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the William Fox Development Center in Dwight, IL. He was born on April 8, 1952, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (nee Manning) Cherven. Born and raised in Joliet, he was home schooled and attended Trinity Services. Ritchie was an avid baseball fan, his favorite team being the Chicago Cubs!! He worked for several years at Cornerstone Services in Joliet.

Ritchie is survived by his siblings, James (Billie Sue) Miller, David Wayne Cherven, Theresa (Michael) Farrell, Christine (the late Bob) Malone, Michael Cherven, and Mary (Doug) Wonnell. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his parents; two sisters, Geraldine Cassidy and Delores Turner; and one brother, Fredrick Cherven.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at the William Fox Development Center for the years of love, care and compassion that they gave to Richard while he was in their care.

Visitation for Anthony Richard Cherven, Jr. will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Ss Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the William W. Fox Development Center, 134 W. Main Street, Dwight, IL 60420, would be appreciated.
