Carol Ann Fox, passed away at the age of 84, on April 19, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Carol was born in Joliet, IL, on November 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (nee Minarich) Vancina. Born and raised in Joliet, she was a graduate of Lockport Township High School and furthered her education at the College of St. Francis, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She enjoyed a long rewarding career at Argonne National Laboratory, where she retired as a Programmer and Analyst after 40+ years.
Throughout her life, Carol remained devoted to her faith and was a long-time active parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Her involvement in the church extended to her membership in the Council of Catholic Women (CCW), where she found both fellowship and service opportunities, and the Rivals Woman’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to her community.

Carol is survived by her three brothers, James (Luanne) Vancina, Ken (Jacquie) Vancina, and Jerry Vancina; sister-in-law, Catherine Fox; dearest aunt of Amanda (Tim) Vancina Witczak, Karen (Marion) Vancina Reid , Cathy (Butch) Fox Craig, Dan (Debbie) Fox, John (Joyce) Fox, Ray (Susan) Fox, and Roger Fox; grand nieces and nephews, Theo and Eliette Witczak, Ellie and George Reid, Eric (Stacey) Fox, Nikki (Dennis) Fox Johnston III, Katie Fox, Nathan Fox, Kristin Fox, Amber (Brody) Fox Trayer, and Dylan Fox; dear friend and god-daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Gregory and numerous cousins and godchildren.
She is preceded by her loving husband, Leo H. Fox; her parents; and sister-in-laws, Marianne Vacina and Lois (Fox) Orlovich; and brother-in-law, Donald C. Fox.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be held privately by the family at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
