Charles Edward MacDowell
Charles Edward MacDowell passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Friday, October 4, 2024, due to complications from Alzheimer’s. He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on November 25, 1944, the son of the late James and Arlene (nee Rielly) MacDowell. Charles moved to Milwaukee, WI at an early age and then to Joliet, IL, in 1954. He attended St. Jude elementary School and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Joliet Junior College, and attended Lewis University. Charles retired as Director of Sales and Marketing in 2007 from Loparex after more than 35 years of dedicated service in the coatings/paper industries.

During retirement, Chuck enjoyed working part-time at Inwood Golf Course, where he made many friends and enjoyed staying active. He enjoyed traveling, golfing with his friends, spent time volunteering at Midiwin Tallgrass, was a member of the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad, and the Knights of Columbus #382.
Chuck is survived by his children, Scott (Jennifer) MacDowell and Debi (Scott) Lockwood; grandchildren, Ryan MacDowell, Caitlyn St. Marie, Rachel MacDowell, Nolan MacDowell, Cameron Lockwood, Nathan Lockwood, and Kennedi MacDowell; and his sister, Kay Grybash.

He is preceded by his wife, Sandee MacDowell; granddaughter, Gabriella Bennet; brother, James MacDowell Jr. (in infancy); sister, Marcia; brother-in-law, Allen Grybash; and several cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Chuck will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at McWethy’s Tavern, 1700 West Renwick Road, Romeoville, IL, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremations rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Chuck’s name to Ready Set Ride Therapeutic Facility, P.O. Box 1113, Plainfield, IL 60544-1113.
