Obituary: Daniel Ray Hasenjaeger

Former owner/operator of K&D Service Station in Crest Hill passes away at the age of 77.

Daniel Ray Hasenjaeger

Daniel Ray Hasenjaeger, of Joliet, passed away at the age of 77, on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Daniel was born in Joliet, IL, on March 30, 1947, the son of the late Clinton and Mariam (nee Ostrem) Hasenjaeger. He grew up in Frankfort where his family owned and operated a turkey farm. Daniel was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1965. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was the former owner/operator of K&D Service Station in Crest Hill.

Danny had an undying love for animals, especially his many dogs. When his sons were growing up he enjoyed going to their sporting events, cheering them on in whatever they did. He was known for having his tow trucks in the parades and having the flag that flew over Theodore Street.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Lee Anne Spencer; his two sons, Jeff (Jeannie) Hasenjaeger of Crest Hill and Scott (fiance Jodi Greenley) Hasenjaeger of Joliet; grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, Emma, Ashley, Amanda, and Andrew Hasenjaeger; great-granddaughter, Ayva; nephew, Brian Hasenjaeger of Morris; and his canine companions, ”Biggie” and “Smalls”.

He is preceded by his parents; a brother, David Hasenjaeger; and his dogs, “Doggo” and “Buster”.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. where interment will be held with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Will County Humane Society 24109 W. Seil Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404, or Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad P.O Box 6, Elwood, IL 60421.
