Della F. Rains, age 84, a longtime Channahon, IL resident, passed peacefully at her home on Monday, April 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Della was born on June 21, 1940, in Barlow, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Avis and Kelly R. Blankenship.
Della, a retired insurance specialist, worked for WellPoint and the Baldwin Agency as an insurance broker for many years. She also enjoyed driving a school bus for Joliet Township High School for 15 years.

She enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends. Some of the times that she most enjoyed were camping and traveling with her best friends around the country.
Her heart and soul were her family. Della was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Every Sunday for many years, she spent time at her mother’s house surrounded by her large extended family, creating loving memories that she held near and dear to her heart. She loved sharing stories of her childhood and all the wonderful times with her parents and siblings.
Della is survived by her children, Theresa (Tim) Startz, Stephen Rains and Diana (Mark) Daggett; grandchildren, Tiffany Startz, Taylor Rivera, Cassie (David) Thomas, Octavia Daggett, and Cori (Matt) Hougas; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Gabriela, Braelynn, Grayson, and Liam; and her sisters, Donna Curry and Nita Rose. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd W. Rains; her parents; and brothers, Ronnie, Gary, and Jim Blankenship.
Funeral Services for Della F. Rains will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, IL. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
