Fifty year Chairman of the Board at Faith Bible Study church will be missed by all who knew him.

Duane E. Bergeson
Age 93, of Joliet, Illinois passed from this life Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was born on December 21, 1931, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to the late Emma (Williams) and Samuel Bergeson.
Duane served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Eva "Jane" Bergeson; his parents; ten brothers, Birgie Dean (Joan Alice), James Theodore (Lorraine), Donald (Melinda), Gerald (Marcella), George (Belva), Leonard (Chris), Clarence, Arthur (Joyce), Gene (Mary) and Raymond (Winnie) Bergeson; and two sisters, Margaret Mattas and Darlene (Norman) Hartong.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Stahl) Bergeson; daughters, Mary Jane (Dan) Heberer and Gail (Warren) Rendleman; son, Theodore Duane (MaryLou Spangler) Bergeson; grandchildren, Danny (Laura) Heberer, Andrew Heberer, and Catie (Devin) Stallings, Caitlin (Chad) Henry, Cara (Spencer) Hauert, Maegan (Vincent) Zabukovec, Lindsay (Jordan) Villagomez and Erica (Jordan) Munoz. Duane is also a proud great-grandpa of fifteen and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Duane retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after 37 years of service. He was a longtime active member and 50 year Chairman of the Board at Faith Bible Church in Joliet. He assisted in the construction of the church at its current location and was always available to assist his church family and for the most part, anyone who was in need of a little help. He also enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard well manicured.
Funeral services for Duane will be Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet, where visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
