Edward D. Surjan, Sr.

Edward D. Surjan Sr., age 94 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Lightways Hospice. Born on December 20, 1930, in Joliet, Edward was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Anna Surjan.

Edward proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean War. His service was a testament to his sense of duty, selflessness, and enduring bravery. Upon returning home, he began working as a welder and retired from Commonwealth Edison after many dedicated years.

Throughout his life, Edward called many places home. After retiring, he settled in the serene surroundings of Cook, Minnesota, and later enjoyed the sunny landscapes of Tucson, Arizona. In recent years, he returned to his beloved hometown of Joliet.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Joann; and his sons, Edward Jr. (Beverly Jean) Surjan, and Terry (Stephanie) Surjan; and grandson, Luca Surjen.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Surjan, Mary Ann Jadron, and Ann Dolan; and brother, Paul Surjan.

Edward's presence will forever be missed but never forgotten by those fortunate enough to have had him in their lives.

As it was Edward’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements entrusted to Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet, IL.
