Proud sheet metal architect with Local 265 and Plainfield resident passes away unexpectedly at age 53.

Erik John Langorgen

Erik John Langorgen, age 53, of Plainfield, IL, passed away unexpectedly on April 20th, 2024.

Erik was born on February 6th, 1971, to Sharon and Helge Langorgen in Oak Lawn, IL. He worked as a Local 265 sheet metal architect for over 25 years and was very proud of the work he did.

On March 3rd, 2001, he married the love of his life, Cari Nicole Snakenberg and together had two children, Lucas John and Shelby Jo.

Erik and his wife enjoyed raising their two amazing children, spending time with friends and family, camping, traveling, long weekend getaways, riding their motorcycle, and enjoying every part of life together.

Erik’s hobbies included working on and riding his Harley Davidson, working with his son on his Mustang, binge-watching crime shows with his daughter, remodeling his home, his animals, shooting darts, and sharing a good beer with his friends. Erik never knew a stranger and was a friend to all. Because of his generous nature, Erik’s last gift was to the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Network.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and eldest sister, Lynn Panko.

Erik is survived by his loving wife, Cari; son, Lucas; daughter, Shelby; two sisters, Karen (Kurt) Krupinski and Sonia (Mike) Haddock; father and mother-in-law, Greg and Patti Snakenberg; sister-in-law, Kelsi (Jeremy) Schnack; brother-in-law Shane (Katie) Snakenberg; eight nieces; four nephews; and many close friends that he called family.

All friends and family are invited to celebrate Erik’s life on Saturday, May 4, 2024 with a Memorial Visitation from 3-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Funeral services will be the following day, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
