A loving and kind husband, father and Papa to his beloved grandchildren, Joe never missed a sporting event, dance recital or school activity, and always went no matter what. Never without his camera, he also made sure to record all their activities and achievements with photos.

Joe will be remembered for the good life he provided for his wife and family, what good care he took of them, and his ability to always make Carol laugh. He was always there for her and she was always there for him. The every Thursday meetings of “the Bonding Group” which were his high school friends will not be the same without him, and he will also be missed at Starbucks and Dairy Queen where he was a familiar face.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol (Engimann) Collins of Joliet; two adoring daughters, Amy (Patrick) Simpson and Ann (Peter) Egizio, both of Channahon; five loving grandchildren, Ashley Egizio, Peter Egizio, Emily Simpson, Claire Simpson and Abby Egizio; one dear brother, Peter (Carm) Collins; a fond brother-in-law, Jerry (Jeffrey) Engimann; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Martha; one brother, Charles (Carolyn) Collins; and one sister, Patricia (James) Lukancic.

A reception and celebration of Joe’s life will be held at McWethy’s Tavern, 1700 W. Renwick Road, Romeoville, IL, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from Noon to 3:00 p.m.

Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Lightways Hospice (www.lightways.org) would be appreciated.
