Obituary: Kenneth L. Zadel

He will be remembered for his ambition and hardwork.

Kenneth L. Zadel

Age 81, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, and formerly Joliet, Illinois, passed away at his home.

He was born July 9, 1943, to the late Catherine (Skodi) and Ferdinand Zadel in Crest Hill, Illinois.

In August of 1965, he married Joan Pfeil at St. John Catholic Church in Joliet and enjoyed over 54 years of marriage together until Joan passed in 2019. He and Joan had lived in California for a period of time before moving to Lititz several years ago.

Ken started his career at Kerr Glass, formerly of Plainfield, IL, on March 12, 1962, as a probationary employee sweeping the factory floor with a push broom for $1.09 an hour. He finished his career at Kerr Glass as Chief Financial Officer after 42.5 years of dedicated service.

Ken loved to work outside on his yard. On occasion, he attended car show events.

Surviving are his nephews, Jeffrey (Tammy) Zadel and Steven (Adriana) Zadel; great-niece, Alyssa; and great-nephews, Jonathan and Jeffery Zadel. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Judy Kinmonth; nephew, Dan Kinmonth, and niece, Karen Teeter.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Marie (Pfeil) Zadel; his parents; brother, Richard L. (the late Sharon) Zadel and sister-in-law, Marilyn Vorva.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather at St. John Catholic Church, 404 N. Hickory Street in Joliet on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until Ken's Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11am. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
