Peter Gagliardi
Peter Gagliardi, age 80, passed away at his home in Crest Hill, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born in Italy on July 23, 1943, to the late Silvio and Michelina Gagliardi, and came to the United States with his family when he was a teenager. Peter and his family owned and operated the “Sicilian Bakery”, with three locations in the Chicagoland area. He also worked for a time at Zenith. On June 29, 2002, he married Mary Toomey, and the two most recently celebrated 21 years of marriage. Since retirement, Peter has enjoyed working in his yard. He was also an experienced electrician and carpenter, and loved fixing things around the house.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Mary Gagliardi; his daughters, Janey Gagliardi, Lori Gagliardi, Lisa (Steve) Caron, and Carrie (Jay) Bell; his grandchildren, Kellianne Firnsin, Aliyah Matarieh, Chelsea Pena, Carter Ptak, Joey Motto, and Hunter Caron; brothers, Benny (Tracy) Gagliardi and Jimmy (Lora) Gagliardi; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved animals, dogs Willy, Doughi, and Ali, and cats Ozzi, Sonny-Bunny, Sugar, and Oli.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Silvio and Michelina Gagliardi; brothers, Alfredo and Jonnie Gagliardi; sister, Lilliana Gagliardi; and infant sister, Giuseppina.

All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Peter’s life on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington Rds.), Joliet, IL, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and concluding with services at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines at a later date.
Memorials in Peter’s name to the West Suburban Humane Society in Downers Grove would be appreciated.
