Raul Gutierrez
Raul Gutierrez, age 79, a longtime resident of Joliet, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home.

Born November 9, 1946, in San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, Mexico, he was the son of Weto and Guadalupe (Marquez) Gutierrez. Raul was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and later attended Joliet Junior College.
Raul worked for many years as a machinist for U.S. Steel at the former Joliet Iron and Steel Works. A proud member of the United Steelworkers of America, he served many years as Secretary for his local union. Following his retirement, he continued to make his home in Joliet where he had many friends and loved ones.

An avid golfer, bowler and softball player, Raul was a lifelong Chicago sports fan who especially loved the Cubs, Bears and Bulls. He loved to entertain, had a great sense of humor, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Gutierrez and his wife Anne, Jayson Gutierrez and his wife Kasia, and Mark Gutierrez and his wife Allison; his daughters, Lisa (Gutierrez) Landwehr and her husband Dane, and Amy (Gutierrez) Baker; his grandchildren, Sophia and Quentin Gutierrez, Jackson and Carter Gutierrez, Maya and Avery Cassidy, Olive Baker, Connor and Aiden Gutierrez, and Julian Ramirez; his brothers, Ricardo Gutierrez, and Ralph Gutierrez and his wife Eileen; his sister, Anna (Gutierrez) Sereiko and her husband Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Lydia (Gutierrez) Dominguez.
Visitation for Raul Gutierrez will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.
