Born in Joliet, IL, at Silver Cross Hospital on November 23, 1939, Robert’s presence was a gift to this world, and it was his very existence that guided him to the love of his life, Beverly Wright. By joining their lives into one through marriage, Robert and his wife planted the seeds of a large and loving family, growing a legacy of togetherness, joy, and enduring love. His family of four, later bloomed into a family of twenty including five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

It is significantly important to mention his doting son’s death, Robert M. Storm, who passed on May 19, 2025, and who Robert is preceded by.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverly Storm; his son, Chuck Storm (Susan Storm); his daughter-in-law, Beth Storm; and his grandchildren Ashley, Rachael, Leah, Ryan, and Kacy.

His legacy continues on as well through his great-grandchildren: Haylie, Jr., Dezy, Niveyah, Kyla, Raelynn, Adonis, Remee, and Mckinlee.

Every step taken of Robert’s was a step towards greatness presented in the wonderful family he created, as well as his everlasting reputation on the cars he designed in his very own body shop. Robert was a craftsman of steel and soul. He had a loud and compassionate soul, just as a true self-taught mechanic.

He was a man of strength and relentless drive, whose shelves gleamed with trophies that told the story of a lifetime of dedication, excellence, and hard-earned triumphs; all which he earned and deserved. His fulfilling career and completed mission of mechanics throughout life shaped his life, almost as a perfect picture.

Robert spent the most of his days enjoying daily coffee runs with his wife, walking his dog(s) Max, and raising his two beautiful boys to love what he loved such as hunting, snowmobiling, and taking family road trips, especially to his favorite spot, Great Lakes Drag-way. Whenever there was a chance to get Robert to show off his car, you can bet he was there.

Though his hard head could rival stones and his stubbornness could test saints, it was his constant joking that softened all of life’s blows and reminded everyone how deeply he cared—just in his own way.

Even though he has departed from this world, the man who once walked among us with steady purpose and a heart wide enough to hold the weight of both ambition and tenderness leaves behind a legacy etched not in monuments or accolades, but in the warm laughter of family dinners he never missed, the belonging sense of his sons knowing he made their father proud, and in the unwavering dedication he poured into a career that was not just a means of livelihood but a calling—one he answered each day with integrity, humility, and a profound sense of duty, proving that a life well-lived is not measured in time, but in the depth of love given and the passion with which one meets their purpose.

Here’s to Stormy, he’s taken his final ride, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, persistent strength, and the love he tuned into every bolt and smile around him.

Visitation for Robert Storm will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Cremation rights will be accorded following the visitation and interment will be private.
