Beloved family man whose laugh was infectious, passes away suddenly at the age of 60.

Rolando Acosta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Rolando Acosta, age 60, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. He was born in San Benito, TX, the son of Rene Acosta and Elena Aguirre, on March 7, 1965. A lifelong Joliet resident, he attended Joliet Central High School.

Throughout the years, he was employed in the steel industry, warehouse industry, and worked for many years at Apollo Colors in Rockdale.
Rolando lived a life full of adventure, heart and laughter. He had a passion for traveling; his favorite location to visit was Honolulu. He found joy in fishing and playing pool. Rolando was a jokester at heart, his big boisterous laugh was infectious. Whether he was exploring new places or simply sharing stories with family, Rolando lived his life with a generous soul and big smile.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his mother, Elena; his six children, Rolando Acosta, Jr., Ricardo Acosta, Zeus Acosta, Santos Acosta, Lidia Acosta, and Benjamin Acosta; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild, his brother, Rene (Annie) Acosta, Jr.; and his sister, Araceli (Javier) Ordaz. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rene Acosta; grandmother, Julia Longoria; and grandson, Fabian Rivera.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name to Morning Star Mission would be greatly appreciated.
A Memorial Gathering for Rolando Acosta will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until Rolando’s Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
