Devoted family man, and Army veteran, remembered for his faith, service, and love of the Chicago Bears.

Sean Lewis Griffin
Sean Lewis Griffin, age 54, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Meadowbrook Skilled Facility of Bolingbrook, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 24, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended O’Keefe Elementary School, and later attended and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. After High School he enlisted in the United Sates Army. Sean served in Operation Desert Storm.

Sean worked several jobs, with his last two being Sears and Michael’s Warehouse. He and his wife, Venus, were die-hard Chicago Bears fans, always watching and cheering them on together. Sean was devoted to his Muslim faith.
Sean leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, LaVenice “Venus”, children, RaVonne, Sean (Brieyanna), and Kebra; bonus son, Kymble; grandchildren, “Lani”, and “Rini”; special aunt, Winnie Mayfield; best friend, Nick Hart; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Antonette Griffin; mother, Peggy Adkins; grandmother, Lillian Adkins; and son LeVonte.
Visitation for Sean Lewis Griffin will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Due to his request, cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Inurnment will be on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL, with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Memorial Squad.
