Susan was born June 20, 1947, to the late Eleanor and Martin Lerner in Chicago. She was raised in the Brighton Park neighborhood, where fate and a young neighborhood bicyclist would lead to a storybook love affair that stood the test of time.
"Susie" married the love of her life, Paul G. Wallace on September 11, 1982.

In addition to Paul, her beloved husband of 42 years, she is survived by her daughter, Analiese Stahl; granddaughters, Gabrielle Stahl (fiancee Curzio Johnson) and Alexandria Stahl; niece, Lauren (Jorge) Daluga-Lopez; nephew, Christopher (Amanda) Daluga; and great-nephews and nieces, Miguel and Marcos Lopez; Dominic, Miette and Devlin Daluga.
Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Lerner; and sister, Lenore (the late Lawrence) Daluga.
An educator, who truly believed in learning opportunities until your last breath, Susie retired as Principal from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic High School in Aurora just a few years ago. Throughout her career as a counselor and teacher with CPS, she continued her quest for developing her skill set, recently completing her last requirements in pursuit of her Doctorate.
Earlier in her career, she took great pride in her role assisting young students with the fundamentals of the English language at the mission in Chicago's Chinatown.
Other passions included reading mystery novels, decorating for holidays and any other reason, and most especially, being a doting grandmother, aunt, mother and wife.
As it was Susan's request, cremation rites will be accorded.
A Celebration of Susie's life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet, where all friends and relatives can gather from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will conclude the afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Susan's name can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2500 Arbeiter Rd., Joliet, IL 60431.
