Obituary: Thomas L. Knorr, Sr.

A proud member of Laborer's Local #75 passes at age 82.

Thomas L. Knorr, Sr.

Thomas Lee Knorr, Sr., age 82, passed away at his home in Joliet, IL, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on March 26, 1943, in Belleville, IL, to the late Leonard and Dorothy (Malfatti) Knorr. His family later moved to Lockport, IL and he was a graduate of Lockport Township High School.

A proud member of Laborer’s Local #75, he worked in various capacities for P. T. Ferro Construction Company for many years until retirement.

Tom was a deeply religious man, a hard worker with a strong work ethic, and a generous and kind man who would help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor.

Surviving are his two sons, Thomas L. (Marie) Knorr Jr. of Joliet and Paul (Carrie) Knorr of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Mary Kate (Will) Zander, Emily (Tom) Kelly, Caroline (Jimmy) Cockerill, Connor Knorr and Harper Knorr; five great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Oliver and Leo Kelly, and Roan and Chloe Zander; two brothers, Robert (Maureen) Knorr and Tom’s twin, John (Charlene) Knorr; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna “Jean” (Boyd) Knorr on September 27, 2021.

Funeral Services for Thomas L. Knorr, Sr. will be held at 9:15 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
