Olympic Day St. Mary Immaculate School Plainfield

Olympic Day is a St. Mary Immaculate tradition that serves as a memorable way to wind down the school year.

Parish School Olympic Day held Friday, May 22

St. Mary Immaculate Parish School held its Annual Olympic Day on Friday, May 20 under partly sunny skies at Joliet Memorial Stadium. Students began the day with a parade around the track led by the Boy Scout Troop who then also conducted the Flag Ceremony. The Concert Band then played the Star Spangled Banner and the National Anthem before the day’s sporting events began. Each grade rotated as a group around the stadium to visit all the events, which included Long Jump, an obstacle course, 50M and 100M runs, as well as games of kickball, simple games, and more. Other than during the short break for lunch, the students were energetically participating in activities all day long. Meanwhile back at the school, the Kindergarten and Preschool/Pre-K Classes held their own versions of Olympic Day with activities geared for the younger kids. It was great to see all the teamwork and friendship displayed by the students across all the grades. Olympic Day is an SMI tradition that serves as a memorable way to wind down the school year. Many thanks go to school parent volunteer coordinators Al and Stephanie Pintoy, with the help of physical education teacher Eric Carlson. In addition, we thank the crew of teachers, staff and parent volunteers for planning and helping at this exciting and enjoyable day for everyone in our school family.
