Park District Plans Race For Kids Ahead Of Tree Lighting Festival

The first "You Can't Catch Me" Youth Fun Run at Village Green Park will take place before the Grinchmas on the Green Tree Lighting Nov. 27.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District is planning its inaugural "You Can't Catch Me" Fun Run at Village Green Park. The run for kids will take place ahead of the Grinchmas on the Green Tree Lighting Festival Nov. 27.

The one-mile run will kick off a series of activities taking place that afternoon at the park, located at 24151 W. Chicago St. The run will start at 1:30 p.m. and last until 2:30 p.m.

From there, park district staff encourages participants and their families to stay for the tree lighting ceremony. Guests can also schedule visits with Santa and the Grinch and enjoy cocoa and cookies.

Admission to the fun run costs $20, which includes a t-shirt and swag bag with the parts to make a gingerbread house. In order to be guaranteed a shirt in their size for the run, runners must sign up before 5 p.m. Nov. 10.

Runners can register for the event on the park district's website.
