Patriotic Picnic and Fireworks Display July 3 hosted by the Plainfield Park District

The free event will begin at 6p. and will culminate with a fireworks display at dusk.

The Plainfield Park District will host its annual Patriotic Picnic and Fireworks Display on July 3. The free event will begin at 6p. and will culminate with a fireworks display at dusk. The event will take place at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Dr.

The event will provide fun activities for the entire family, including an inflatable obstacle course, face-painting, crafts, Little Obie Train, big trike races, fun contests for kids and Play Zone activities. The event will also include touch-a-truck opportunities including military, police, fire, and village vehicles. A DJ will provide music throughout the evening, and the Plainfield Park District’s dance classes will perform at 7p.

Take part in the kids’ Patriotic Bike Parade! Children can decorate their bikes, big wheels, scooters (non-motorized), wagons, etc. with red, white and blue decorations and show off their American pride! Decorating will start at 6p and the parade will start at 6:30p. A limited supply of decorations will be available. No pets, please.

Cool off from the summer heat with Kona Ice! Kona Ice is a one of a kind ice treat experience serving flavor such as Groovy Grape, Wild Watermelon and Lemon Lime Licious. Kona Ice will be on-site selling shaved iced and giving back a percentage of all sales to the Friends of the Park District Foundation.

Participants are encouraged to bring blankets, picnic baskets, chairs and coolers for this all-ages event. Concessions will also be provided by the Plainfield Central High School Athletics Booster Club. (Please note that alcoholic beverages are not allowed on school or park district property.)
