Plainfield, IL — About 50 District 202 fifth through ninth graders learned about Chinese culture four days a week for three weeks, including how to read, write and speak Chinese. They showcased what they learned during the recent closing ceremony.

STARTALK is part of the National Security Language Initiative. The NSLI is “designed to increase the proficiency and number of Americans communicating in critical languages,” according to the United States' Department of Education website.
