Plainfield 3rd Graders Bump To Bruno Mars For Test Prep

The PARCC isn't quite so scary when you're bumping to Bruno Mars.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield teachers at Freedom Elementary School are doing it again. Like last year, third grade teachers made a music video to a Bruno Mars song hoping to pump up students and staff for the upcoming standardized tests.

Last year, they used Bruno Mars' 24k Magic and the video did well. "This year we've done it again, sticking with Bruno Mars' new song Finesse," third grade honors teacher Laila Gunlock told Patch.

"We were hoping to put a positive spin on standardized testing, and help the kids to get excited about showing what they know instead of being anxious or scared of the test!" Gunlock said.

Students are getting ready for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) tests. Gunlock said that at the very least, they want to give students and staff a laugh during such an understandably stressful time.
