Plainfield Approves $55K Parking Study
The study will look at downtown parking space and explore concepts for future parking improvements.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Village Board Monday night approved Baxter & Woodman Engineering to complete a comprehensive study of downtown parking space.
The study, which is not to cost more than $55,300, will also explore concepts for future parking improvements.
Trustee Ed O’Rourke said his concern with doing a study is that it’s already known there’s a shortage of parking downtown.

“I don’t know if doing a survey is going to tell us anything different,” he said, suggesting to use the money for the survey to create the parking spaces.
The motion passed 4-1 with O’Rourke voting no.

Also approved was a professional service agreement with Infrastructure Management Services for a 2016 Pavement Condition Survey. The survey is not exceed $106,900 in cost.
In essence, it is going out and surveying every square foot of pavement within the village’s road network, according to Plainfield Public Works Director Allen Persons.
The data will also help map out the village’s five year plan, The motion passed unanimously.
