Plainfield Board of Trustees Approve 2020 'Run For The Brave 5K'

According to village officials, the race attracts approximately 500 to 1,000 participants to Plainfield every year.

PLAINFIELD, IL - Plainfield Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2020 Run for the Brave 5K at this week's board meeting. The event will officially take place on May 23, 2020 at 7:30 a.m.

The Run for the Brave 5K will use Plainfield North High School, 119th Street, 248th Avenue and a portion of the crossings at Wolf Creek subdivision.

The Run For The Brave 5K, formerly the Wounded Warrior 5K, is coordinated by Operation Welcome You Home. The race is a fundraiser for military veterans who have sustained substantial injuries while serving our country. Funds are used to provide support, necessities and mobility assistance for veterans.

Organizers have requested permission from village leaders to place signs up around town beginning April 1 to advertise the run. All signs for the event would be removed following the race.
