Plainfield Brewery Wins Gold At World Beer Cup
Nevin's took home the prize for its Hook and Hatchet Vienna-style lager.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Nevin’s Brewing Company announced that its Midnight Pig beer, brewed here in Plainfield, has claimed a gold award in the 2018 World Beer Cup. The global beer competition evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.
Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup saw an impressive field of 8,234 entries from 2,515 breweries in 66 countries—the largest competition to date, according to the brewery.
Nevin’s Brewing Company was awarded a gold award in the Vienna-Style Lager beer style category for its Midnight Pig “Hook and Hatchet." The beer is Nevin's interpretation of a Vienna-style lager in which a variety of high kilned, crystal and roasted malts are used to produce this copper hued, pretzel-y, malty, with a hint of caramel, brew.
