Noted for popular songs of praise and worship and songs of declarative truths, Higher Ground has made over 20 recordings, according to their web site. Their mission continues to call the church to a higher level in God, accentuation praise and worship in every setting.
Harvest Church Plainfield formed in 1996 when then-Chicago resident, artist and entrepreneur Pastor Nolan McCants visited Plainfield after dreaming of driving along a highway and seeing cornfields.
At the time, Plainfield, then a small rural community was on the cusp of a decade of tremendous growth which would, ironically, see most of its cornfields filled with new houses. McCants and his wife, Gloria moved to Plainfield soon after and started Harvest with seven people, including themselves.
Eighteen years later, Harvest has become a vibrant worship community with people of many races and cultures. “So many people, in fact, that we need another service to accommodate everyone,” McCants said.
“Ergo, our slogan – ‘A Place for You’!” McCants said. “We are one blood, one people fulfilling God’s purpose, and we are excited about this new step in our faith journey.”
