Plainfield Cops Take Part In Special Olympics Torch Run

Runners from the Plainfield PD will carry the torch on a five-mile leg before passing it to Shorewood police.

PLAINFIELD, IL — On Monday, June 3, a leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics will begin in Plainfield. There will be a short opening ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Settlers’ Park Amphitheater behind Village Hall, 24401 Lockport St.

Following the opening ceremony, runners from the Police Department and other participants will carry the torch along a five-mile route through the village finally meeting up with runners from the Shorewood Police Department in the area of Caton Farm Road and Drauden Road.

Residents are encouraged to come out and show support as the runners pass by. Motorists can expect some temporary lane closures and some traffic congestion for short periods of time. See the route below.
