Plainfield East Poetry Club to Hold Open Mic Night

The Plainfield East High School Poetry Club will host an open mic event from 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The event will be held in the school media center, 12001 S. Naperville Road, Plainfield.

Admission is $1 and all spoken word performers are encouraged to attend and participate. Attendees are not required to participate, however.

Proceeds will help pay for transportation for the Poetry Club’s trip to competition in Chicago.

The club competes in the Poetry Out Loud recitation competition and the Louder Than a Bomb youth poetry slam.

The club is in its fifth year at Plainfield East High School and has about 35 members.
