The officer ran both of the plates, one of which came back to a blue Chevy SUV and the other one came back to a Dodge.

Roger Thompson, of the 14000 block of Monticello Circle in Plainfield, was sitting inside the vehicle, but got out and began to walk down Nicholson. The officer then exited his vehicle and went to talk to him.

“Thompson was acting very nervously, according to the officer, who went to call for another unit to assist,” Gregory said. Thompson then took off running.

As he was running, Thompson allegedly began to throw items, which were later found to be a baggy of marijuana and three blunts, according to Gregory.

Officers ended up having to tackle Thompson. As he was lying face down he kept his hands under his stomach so he couldn’t be handcuffed, Gregory said.

One of the officers ended up with a sharp pain in his elbow and upper arm from the arrest.

Thompson was taken to the Will County jail where he posted a $1,500 I-bond. He’s been charged with possession of marijuana more than 2.5 grams but less than 30, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

According to court records, Thompson has had multiple arrests over the past years and was charged in connection to a $100,000 bank fraud scheme.
