Plainfield Eyes Route 30 TIF District

Board will meet Monday to discuss eligibility study; also on the agenda: Tax levy hearing, Goldfish Swim School.

The Plainfield Village Board is scheduled to meet Monday for its annual tax levy public hearing, along with voting on a proposal to create a TIF district along Route 30 from Renwick to Spangler.

Trustees will vote on a proposed $78,200 contract with Chicago-based SB Friedman Development Advisors to complete a TIF (tax increment financing) eligibility study, along with a redevelopment strategy for the Route 30 corridor.

A TIF district is a way of subsidizing improvements in a specific area by having a municipality pay for the work upfront and then be reimbursed by the increased taxes generated by the improved district.
