Plainfield FD Unveils Interactive Kiosks To Teach Fire Safety

The touchscreen kiosks are designed to engage all ages with home fire safety tips, escape plans, how-to videos, games and FAQs.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Fire Protection District unveiled two interactive kiosks meant to educate the community about fire safety.

Through a partnership with the Plainfield Public Library District and the Plainfield Park District, the fire department designed the touchscreen kiosks to engage all ages with home fire safety tips, escape plans, instruction about CPR and using an automated external defibrillator, games, and frequently asked questions.

The kiosks are stationed at the library, 15025 S. Illinois St., and Plainfield Park District Recreation Center, 24550 W. Renwick Road.

"These kiosks represent an exciting leap forward in our mission to educate and prepare the community," Fire Marshal Ryan Angelus said in a statement. "By teaming up with the Library and Park District, we're combining our strengths to make safety education accessible, interactive, and engaging for everyone."

Each kiosk also includes links to all three departments' websites to facilitate connection with "valuable programs, services, and community resources," according to a news release.
