Plainfield Fest Returns To Downtown Plainfield For 37th Year

For the second year, the carnival and kids attractions will be at Plainfield High School - Central Campus.

PLAINFIELD, IL — For nearly four decades, Plainfield Fest has been a summer tradition in Plainfield. This year — despite proposals to move the three-day event to Electric Park and the riverfront — the fest will return with the majority of events in the heart of downtown Plainfield on Des Plaines and Lockport streets. Organized by the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation, the event is set for July 20, 21 and 22.

For the second year, the fest's carnival and kids attractions will be located at Plainfield High School - Central Campus on Fort Beggs Drive. "This proved beneficial for a safer and more enjoyable experience for families to attend the various attractions and rides," Plainfield Fest Chairman Rob Epley told Patch in an email.

"This year our Entertainment Tent, Food Court, Business & Craft Vendors and the Midwest’s Largest Bags Tournament will be in the heart of our historic downtown district," Epley said.

The fest got approval from the Plainfield Village Board last week, and as always, will bring food, live entertainment, carnival rides and more to the village. Last year's fest drew 15,000 people to downtown Plainfield and had a record 84 teams competing in the bags tournament.

Epley urged residents to stay tuned for updates o this year's fest, including the musical lineup. Fest fans can stay up to date by checking the Plainfield Fest website and Facebook page. Information on the 2018 bags tournament is also coming soon.
