Plainfield Fire Department Training Coming Up On Lockport Street
As a result of the upcoming training exercises set to take place in downtown Plainfield, part of Lockport Street will be closed for an hour.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A portion of Lockport Street in downtown Plainfield will be closed to traffic for an hour Sunday, according to officials at the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
Fire crews will be conducting a training exercise that will require both directions of travel on Lockport Street, from Illinois to Des Plaines streets, to close starting at 7 a.m. Sunday. The training is expected to last about an hour, officials said.
Although cars won't be able to travel through the affected segment, pedestrians will still be able to use the sidewalk on the south side of Lockport Street. No live fire or smoke will be used for the training, so officials said restaurants, stores and apartments won't be affected.

"This exercise will allow the fire district to evaluate our tactics and skills in the event that a fire breaks out in our historic downtown business district," officials said in a news release Tuesday.
Bystanders will have the chance to view the exercise from a dedicated viewing area at the corner of Lockport and Illinois streets.
