The week of May 18 to 24 is the 40th annual national Emergency Medical Services Week referred to as EMS Week.
This year’s theme is “EMS Dedicated. For Life.” EMS Week recognizes the lifesaving efforts of emergency medical service workers who are the first responders to help people in their time of emergency medical need.
Emergency Medical Services is one of the top 10 fastest growing professions, expected to grow by 33 percent by the year 2020, according to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statics. People interested in EMS careers need to be people orientated, have high ethical standards, be willing to learn, enjoy education and be able to work in a fast paced environment that is subject to rapid changes.

EMS workers constantly train to provide the best possible care for a variety of situations from accidents to illnesses. Emergency Medical Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When someone needs emergency medical care, a call should be made to 9-1-1 and help will be on the way.
In 2013, Plainfield responded to 2,646 EMS calls. To help us in our mission to save lives we encourage everyone to learn CPR; we offer a variety of CPR classes from layperson to healthcare provider.
