Plainfield Girl Named Commended Student in National Merit Program

Approximately 34,000 teenagers throughout the nation are being recognized as Commended Students this year.

Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School has announced that seniors Jane DeJarld (Evergreen Park), Kiera Plioplys (Oak Lawn), Meghan Rokas (Palos Heights) and Lauren Turnbull (Plainfield) have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Approximately 34,000 teenagers throughout the nation are being recognized as Commended Students this year. Jane, Kiera, Meghan and Lauren placed in the top three percent of more than 1.5 million students after taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Their current academic achievements and academic promise allows these students to stand out above their peers.
