Plainfield Harvest 5K Runs Sunday; Roads Will Temporarily Close
The Harvest 5K and Kidz Miler will take place Sunday at Village Green Park. Roads will close ahead of the races and reopen after 10:30 a.m.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Village Green Park will soon be packed with people preparing to run a 5K. The Healthy Driven Plainfield Shorewood Harvest 5K will start at 9 a.m. Sunday. Roads will temporarily close for the event and are expected to reopen after 10:30 a.m.
While teens and adults can run in the Harvest 5K, hosted by the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce, kids can sign up for the Kidz Miler, which will start at 8:30 a.m. at the park, located at 24151 W. Chicago St.
Ahead of the event, roads around the park will close and parking will be prohibited during that time. Roads impacted include:

- James Street from Lockport Street to Fort Beggs Drive
- Fox River Street between Lockport and Commercial streets
- Des Plaines Street between Chicago and Commercial streets
- Illinois Street between Chicago and Commercial streets
- Chicago Street between Illinois and Fox River streets
- Ottawa Street between James and Illinois streets
- Commercial Street from James to Illinois streets
- Fort Beggs Drive from James Street to Pratt Lane
- River Road from Fort Beggs Drive to Renwick Road
- All of River Court
Plainfield Police Department officials said Tuesday that road closures may temporarily restrict access to portions of downtown and Plainfield Central High School.

People interested can register for the event here. It currently costs $35 for a person or team to enter the Harvest 5K, but prices increase to $40 after 7 p.m. Thursday. Kidz Miler admission costs $18 through 7 p.m. Thursday and will increase to $20 afterward.
Running packets can be picked up at DNA Active Outfitters, 24210 W. Lockport St., ahead of the race or at the registration table on race day.
