Plainfield High School Hockey Association (PHSHA) held our annual Toys for Tots Jamboree today. We set out to collect toys to ensure that Christmas morning is more “merry” than it would have been for some less fortunate children. When it comes to Christmas morning no child should have an empty stocking or no presents under the tree. Christmas morning should be magical!
The 2 hockey game event was held on Sunday, December 13th at Canlan Ice Sports Rink in Romeoville. PHSHA’s Varsity and JV Red teams played teams from Waubonsie. All 4 teams participated in the on-ice toy presentation where they individually skated up to the 3 U.S. Marines (SSgt Siddall, SSgt Hernandez, and LCpl Deisz) in attendance and presented their unwrapped toy. It was an emotional moment for the skaters to not only meet & shake hands with the Marines but to also know that through their unselfishness another child will be able to have a smile on Christmas.
Through the overwhelming generosity of the Plainfield and Waubonsie coaches, parents and skaters, we were able to bring Christmas joy to hundreds of children.
Thank you to everyone whom came out to enjoy a great day of hockey and also for helping make our Jamboree an overwhelming success.
See you next year!!!
