Plainfield Irish Parade Set for March 12

Organizers are in need of volunteers, parade sponsors and an Irish princess.

The Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade has a 2017 date.

The annual celebration is slated for Sunday, March 12. The parade will step off from Plainfield Central High School, 24120 Fort Beggs Dr., at 1 p.m., rain or shine. See the full parade route here.

No word so far on who will be tapped as the 2017 grand marshal, but organizers said they are in need of parade entries, volunteers, parade sponsors and, of course, an Irish princess. To get involved, fill out a volunteer form or visit the Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade sponsorship page. Parade entry forms are also available on the website.

In addition to a parade, this year's event will include a family tent with music, games and raffles.

The Irish parade got its start as a neighborhood event in 2002 and has grown into a popular community celebration in downtown Plainfield. This year's event is presented by James Flanagan, Attorney at Law.
