Plainfield Library Hosts 9/11 Story Event For 20th Anniversary

To commemorate the event, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Friends of the Plainfield Library will donate a tree to the Will County Forest Preserve.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Ahead of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 Saturday, the village of Plainfield doesn't have an official memorial planned, but the Plainfield Public Library is hosting a StoryWalk at the library starting at 11 a.m.

Open to all ages, the event, which runs until 12:30 p.m. at the library, located at 15025 S. Illinois St., will include a reading of Sean Rubin's "This Very Tree" on the library's lawn. Following the story-telling, participants will have the opportunity to create a family tree representing their ancestors.

To commemorate the StoryWalk Saturday, the Friends of the Plainfield Library will donate a tree to the Will County Forest Preserve, according to the event's description.

Will County police and fire chiefs also have a memorial event planned for the anniversary. Beginning at 9 a.m. at the Will County Courthouse, 100 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet, officials and guests will pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the attacks.
