Plainfield Library Launches GoGo Gadgets Collection
Initial funding provided by generous VIP grant from ExxonMobil
Plainfield, IL — The Plainfield Public Library District is introducing a new collection on March 4 called GoGo Gadgets, allowing patrons to check out a wide range of tools, technology and household items.
“What is great about this collection is that it provides cardholders access to a wide range of items without the commitment of buying objects they may only use once” said Kara Kohn, the library’s Head of Reader and Reference Services.
Items were picked based on community feedback. A survey was sent out via email and on social media asking what items cardholders would like to see. Currently there are over 20 items in the collection with plans already in place to expand.

The initial items were purchased with an ExxonMobil VIP Grant which was earned by a hardworking ExxonMobil employee putting in volunteer hours at the Library.
There are already plans in place to expand the collection using money raised from the CaddyStacks FUNraiser that was held at the Library in February.
“Maybe you want to do a craft project and need a Cricut machine. It’s not like you would buy one for a single project. You can just take one out from the Library, complete your project, and then return it” said Kohn. “Why buy when you can borrow from your Library?”
