Plainfield Library Trustee Meeting Video for Sept 17th

Below are links to the September 17th board meeting for our Plainfield Public Library board of trustees. Part 1 is actually the annual Truth in Taxation Hearing meeting that was held prior to the regular board meeting. That was a non-event, albeit a required one. Library Director, Julie Milavec, did give an overview of what the hearing was since there was time to listen and there were two Plainfield North HS students in attendance. All four recordings together give you 30 minutes of the taxation hearing followed by a little under an hour and a half of regular meeting. During the regular meeting, a few more high school students, all there to complete a requirement for their government course, arrived and staffer Anastasia Nash was honored for reaching her 15 year service milestone.

Other interesting topics included:

1. Action on the bid for the new electronic informational sign for the library that will go along the Rt. 59 side of the new parking lot (a bid of roughly $28K was chosen).
2. Discussion of new requirements for inclusion in the RLA, which is key since participation in that association feeds up into state level programs and initiatives.
3. Discussion of putting up a referendum for library expansion in 2016 and what work and approach that would require. To this end, a Committee of the Whole meeting on the issue will be held at the library at 6:30p on Wednesday, October 22nd. The purpose will be to bring all trustees and the public up to speed on past referendum efforts, including existing data and information on the issue, etc.
