Plainfield Man Bludgeoned to Death in Gary Alley

The body of Cary Pyles, a truck driver, was discovered Wednesday, police say.

A Plainfield man was found murdered Wednesday morning in an alley in Gary, Ind.

The body of Cary T. Pyles, 48, 2608 John Bourg Drive, was discovered about 9 a.m. by a man walking his dog behind 952 Ralston St. on the city's west side, a spokesman for the Lake County coroner's office told the Northwest Indiana Times.

Pyles died of blunt force trauma to the head, the coroner's office said.

Gary police Sgt. William Fazekas told the paper that Pyles was seen leaving his truck between 5:45 and 5:50 p.m. Tuesday. His locked semitrailer was found running at 25th Avenue and Burr Street in Gary, he said.
