Plainfield Middle-Schooler Is Wrestling World Champ

The Heritage Grove student placed at a Greco Roman wrestling competition in Estonia last month.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Heritage Grove Middle School eighth-grader Jordan Blew is a world champion wrestler. Blew, 14, earned sixth place in the 105-pound weight class in international Greco Roman wrestling at the Tallinn Open in Tallinn, Estonia in March. He also earned eighth place in freestyle wrestling at the same tournament.

He competed with the USA wrestling team in both events.

Blew began wrestling when he was almost five year old. He currently wrestles with the Force Elite club in Naperville.

Wrestling help him focus and stay on task in school, Blew said. He added that he also likes the physicality and individuality of the sport. “You control your own destiny,” Blew said.

He has wrestled opponents from 48 states and earned hundreds of medals.

Blew wants to keep wrestling in college.

Heritage Grove is very proud of Blew and all his hard work in a sport he loves, said Principal Shannon Miller.

“We are excited to follow him next year in high school and see what success he has at that level,” she said.
