New Plainfield Park Board Members Face Challenger

Who's filed for the April 7 election.

A Plainfield resident is challenging two new Plainfield Park District board members.

John Ledvina has filed to run for a two-year term on the board, challenging commissioners Rob Ayres and Ridgley Ann “Mimi” Poling, who were recently appointed to the board.

Ledvina unsuccessfully attempted to oust Plainfield Mayor Mike Collins from the ballot in 2013 via an election petition challenge. The village’s electoral board ruled in Collins’ favor, and he was ultimately re-elected.

When the seats come up for re-election in 2017, they will become six-year positions.

That leaves incumbents Mary Kay Ludemann and Larry Newton running unopposed for their six-year seats.

Ludemann, the current board president, has been on the board since 2009, and Newton was first elected in 2003 before being re-elected in 2009.
