Plainfield Park District Honors Best Friend Of Illinois Parks

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District announced today that D’Arcy Buick GMC has been named Best Friend of Illinois Parks – Mid-Sized Business by the Illinois Association of Park Districts. Park District and D’Arcy Buick GMC representatives will officially receive the award at the IAPD’s Best of the Best Awards Gala to be held October 20 at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.

“D’Arcy Buick GMC has been a long-time supporter and partner to the District,” said Plainfield Park District Executive Director Carlo Capalbo. “We really value them and their partnership.”

“Plainfield is a special community to us,” said D’Arcy Marketing Manager Maggie Sillar. “It’s where our owner, Terry, grew up and where two of his sons who work for us live – in addition to several other staff who call Plainfield home.”

Plainfield Park District has been a beneficiary of D’Arcy’s generosity since the mid-2010s. After consistently advertising via the District’s banner program as well as in the seasonal program catalog, D’Arcy Buick GMC increased its involvement with the Park District in 2022 by sponsoring various seasonal kick-off events including Egg-citing Activities, Party at PARC and Grinchmas on the Green.

“I think the best part of partnering with the Plainfield Park District is seeing how much you’re providing for the residents and being able to be part of it,” Sillar added. “We know Plainfield is a tight-knit and supportive community and the Park District has a great reputation, so we have confidence in the events and activities you hold.

“What sticks out to me is an event like Grinchmas on the Green, which I believe I attended in its first year,” Sillar continued. “Every year, it has grown and every year I cannot believe the amount of people! It feels like the entire town is at the park on that night. It’s such a positive and happy event and a perfect opportunity for us to talk to customers and wish them happy holidays.”

D’Arcy’s representatives were on hand at Grinchmas in 2022, passing out their usual assortment of goodies and swag. Additionally, they always bring a vehicle for display at their sponsored events. D’Arcy is also a regular participant in Plainfield’s Irish Parade as well as serving as the premier sponsor of four of this summer’s Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce Cruise Nights.

D’Arcy spreads its wealth. Some other notable contributions to the community have included:
