PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield resident Rob Ayres, who served on the Plainfield Park District Board of Commissioners since 2014, died May 12. After he served the district for more than 7 years, officials are looking to fill the vacancy.

First appointed to the Board in 2014, Ayres was elected in 2015 and again in 2017. As a commissioner, he was the chairperson of the finance and liability committee and co-chair of the personnel and policy committee. Ayres' term was set to end in 2023, so officials said the new commissioner's term will also last until next year.

Information packets with instructions to apply are available for pickup at the Recreation Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St. People interested have until noon on June 22 to submit an application. A sealed envelope addressed to Park Board President William Thoman can be dropped off at the center between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
