Plainfield Park District Online Survey Results Are In

How do residents feel about dog park permits, term limits and a rec center?

Last week, resident Rob Ayres launched an online survey mirroring questions that will appear as Plainfield Park District referenda on the March 18 primary ballot.

Ayres, who said he believed it was unnecessary to put the questions on the ballot, closed the survey Monday afternoon after receiving more than 400 responses the three questions.

More than 55 percent of respondents said they are against term limits for park district commissioners. Voters also overwhelmingly said "no" when asked whether Plainfield Park District dog parks should require permits, and were not in favor of having commissioners look into building a community center.

Here are the final results, excluding 38 responses with duplicate IP addresses, Ayres said:

  1. Should the Plainfield Park District issue permits for users of the districts' dog parks? Yes: 17.62 percent No: 82.38 percent
  2. Would you like the park district commissioners to investigate building a community center? Yes: 39.84 percent No: 60.16 percent
  3. Do you feel that term limits should be placed on the park district commissioners? Yes: 44.72 percent No: 55.28 percent

Here are the advisory questions as they will appear on the March 18 ballot:
  • Should the use of Plainfield Township Park District's dog parks be regulated by permit?
  • Should the Plainfield Township Park District impose term limits on the members of its park board so they may serve no more than two six-year terms?
  • Should the Plainfield Township Park District investigate the purchase or construction of an indoor recreational facility?

Do you think the primary results will replicate the results of the online survey?
