The Plainfield Park District Welcomes Carlo Capalbo

With his diverse experience and strong educational background, Carlo is eager to lead the Plainfield Park District.

After working extensively with the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD), the Board of Commissioners of the Plainfield Park District has hired Carlo Capalbo to serve as its next Executive Director. He will begin employment on September 8. Carlo has 17 years of experience in the field and for the past seven years has served as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Worth Park District. He has also worked at the Streamwood, Berwyn and North Berwyn Park Districts in a variety of roles.

Carlo holds a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from Governor’s State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was the recipient of the Young Professional of the Year Award in 2002 from the IPRA Recreation Section. And, at the 2014 IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights Conference, received the IPRA’s Chairman’s Award.

Carlo has been an active member of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association (IPRA) where he currently sits as the Membership Council Representative for the Administration and Finance Section. He is also a member of the Professional Development School Board of Regents, having served as the school’s chairman in 2013.

In his free time, Carlo is very active with his children in their sports. Carlo has coached his daughter in softball for the past 11 years and his twin boys in both t-ball and soccer as they start participation in athletics.
