Emily Brooks has been selected to participate in the Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.)
Emily Brooks, a junior at Plainfield North High School and part time guest service team member at the Plainfield Park District, has been selected to participate in the National Rifle Association's annual Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.) in July. Y.E.S. is a seven day, expense paid educational experience in Washington, D.C. for outstanding rising high school students from around the country. While in Washington, D.C., students will learn the significance of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights while developing an understanding of government and the importance of actively participating in it. In addition, Y.E.S. participants compete for $30,000 in college scholarships.
Emily was one of 47 students selected from numerous of qualified applicants from across the country to participate in this year's program. Emily was required to complete an extensive application, which included the submission of transcripts, an essay about the Second Amendment, a personal statement and three personal recommendations.
The Plainfield Park District would like to congratulate Emily on a job well done. Come and see Emily this summer at one of our many fishing clinics which Miss Brooks will be teaching!
